In
November, our state will elect a governor and state Assembly. Whoever wins
will make critical decisions about our children for years to come.
But
are they talking enough about children? ACNJ doesn’t think so.
ACNJ wants
to put the focus on children and heighten the profile of children’s issues
in the election. We want to make sure candidates tell how they would meet
the needs of children and families and answer, What About the Kids?
Please
help.
Sign on now as an individual or
organization to the What About the Kids? Campaign. We want to be able to show candidates
and the media the long list of people and groups who demand that children’s
needs be addressed in this election. You will get:
§ Periodic emails on issues facing
children in New Jersey and the candidates’ proposals.
§ Announcements of advocacy events
and activities, such as letter-writing and email campaigns and radio spots.
§ An advocacy tool kit to help you
take action, such as by writing your own letter to the editor on children’s
issues.
§ An invitation to come to Step Up
for Kids Day in Trenton.
As part
of our campaign, ACNJ is inviting children to write to the candidates for
governor about what kids in our state need. We have also developed a
suggested curriculum to help teachers engage kids in the election.

Putting
the focus on children’s
issues in the 2009 elections is
good for kids, for voters and
for New Jersey.
